The Fifth Sino-Foreign Joint Venture University Library Conference held in Zhuhai
On April 3rd, the fifth Sino-Foreign Joint Venture University Library Conference was held in Zhuhai. The conference was organized by Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College in its beautiful campus with the theme of Nurturing Knowledge Creation and Transfer.
Participants from eight Sino-foreign joint venture universities– Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, University of Nottingham Ningbo China, New York University Shanghai, Duke Kunshan University, BNU-HKBU United International College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Wenzhou-Kean University and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University—shared common concerns during the event. The topics covered included library space innovation, liaison service, new technology, instructional service, library surveying, research technology, and a tour of the newly opened Library at BNU-HKBU United International College.
The WKU Library Director, Charles Greenberg, delivered a presentation based on our recently launched Library Liaison Program with the title “Library Liaisons By More Than Librarians”. The presentation introduced how liaisons promote library services and collections, the history of liaison librarianship, contemporary liaison librarianship, and the goals of the WKU Library Liaison Program. Liaison programs establish a library culture of outreach and marketing, genuine improvement in communication, increase usage of WKU library resources, improved education, and amplify the visibility of the library’s unique roles at the university.
