WKU Library is hiring a Subject Specialist & a Digital Service Specialist
Wenzhou-Kean University Library is an intellectual and educational symbol and repository, the heart of the knowledge available on campus. The digital library era has expanded the university library’s mission: to connect readers and learners with global repositories of knowledge and culture from every corner of the digitally-connected world. While the library building houses a considerable collection of print books, journals, and newspapers, discovering the best or most useful information in the digital universe requires the development of information skill-building in both students and faculty.
Position:Subject Specialist
Responsibilities:
1. Take the lead in the teaching of Library Information Literacy and consultation of research support.
2. Take the lead as the subject liaison to the assigned College or teaching departments. Organize and assign liaison tasks to Library colleagues.
3. Research, collect, and present learning materials, including open educational resources and open access database, to the faculty, staff, and students via workshops or online tutorials.
4. Provide training of Library Information Literacy teaching and research to Library colleagues.
5. Other assigned duties as needed.
Required Qualification:
1. Master’s degree or above.
2. CET6 score 520 (TOFEL 90/ IELTS 6.5) or above, excellent communication in both oral and written English.
3. Demonstrated commitments to professionalism, work ethics, and coachability.
4. Working or practical knowledge of MS Office Suite and related teaching technologies, including but not limited to data visualization tools, tutorial recording tools, and statistical software.
Preferred Qualification:
1. Master of Library Science, Information Science, or with related backgrounds of Business, Science, Social Science, and/or Architecture and Design.
2. Master’s degree from American Library Associate accredited library science programs.
3. Successful publications and presentations of research outcomes.
4. Experience and proficiency with discipline-focus database and scholarly resources.
5. With overseas educational background or abroad working experience.
Position:Digital Service Specialist
Responsibilities:
1. Take the lead in the resource development of WKU’s Institutional Repository WIRE using DSpace-CRIS.
2. Research, plan, develop, and maintain WKU Library’s digital services platforms and systems, including the DSpace-based Institutional Repository, future-planning digital submission and publishing systems, next-generation integrated systems, data visualization, the current digital learning service, and digital research service.
3. Maintain and provide technical support to the library integrated system, discovery service system, database configuration, digital server configuration, and website development.
4. Carry out the duties as a subject liaison to the assigned College or teaching departments, including information literacy teaching and research consultation.
5. Other assigned duties as needed.
Required Qualification:
1. Master’s degree or above.
2. CET6 score 520 (TOFEL 90/ IELTS 6.5) or above, excellent communication in both oral and written English.
3. Demonstrated commitments to professionalism, work ethics, and coachability.
4. Working or practical knowledge of MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and related data visualization and statistical software.
Preferred Qualification:
1. Master of Library Science, Digital Humanities, Information Science, Software Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant majors.
2. Master’s degree from American Library Associate accredited library science programs.
3. Programming skills, including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Perl, SQL, and PHP.
3. Experience and proficiency with electronic database and website development.
4. With overseas educational background or abroad working experience.
