Lecture | Scientific Images-The "first impression" of your research papers
Do you not know how to clearly depict logical points in scientific process and condense your thinking and data analysis in academic writing? Do you worry that your words are not concise enough when carrying out the practice of applied economics, analyzing marketing data and exploring the results of international business cooperation? Images are an excellent method to show readers innovative ideas and research motives, leaving a good “first impression” for your thesis and research.
In the digital era, SCI papers not only have high requirements for academic writing but also raise standards for the expertise and copyright issues of scientific images in recent years. In fact, many readers will only view images and abstracts before deciding to read (or not to read) a paper. Under such circumstances, learning to use images to interpret science results becomes both a new subject and a new challenge in scientific research.
For this lecture, we invite Ms. Carol Song, an expert in academic image design and the author of several popular books on this topic, to share the ideas and skills of scientific image design with WKUer. Participants will find the lecture helpful in overcoming this difficulty in scientific research.
PLUS, the instructor will conduct practical exercises and explanations, i.e., a demonstration of the actual use of drafting software, to help you better learn and apply.
Date and Time: Oct 24 (Tuesday) 14:00-15:00
Location: SLAC B103
This workshop will provide co-curricular credits.
Lecture Highlights:
- Use images to illustrate and organize research ideas.
- Use graphics to demonstrate key points in academic research.
- Introduce related software (Corel and Autodesk).
- Software usage demonstration
