Bouquets to Art 2023 Oil painting exhibition of Chen Tianlong
On May 18, 2023, the International Museum Day, "Bouquets to Art 2023", co-organized by Wenzhou-Kean University Chinese Curricula Center, Wenzhou-Kean University Chen Tianlong Art Museum, Wenzhou Huihui Aesthetics Space Design Ltd.
Chen Tianlong's oil paintings and 17 floral arrangements inspired by Chen Tianlong's oil paintings were presented simultaneously in the museum. The art gallery was transformed into a garden, using flowers and plants as media to explore nature, painting, and Chen Tianlong's art world. Interpreting the collection through floral works in art museums has a long history in the United States. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco hold such exhibitions yearly. Still, this artistic presentation is the first in Wenzhou.
Mr. Chen Tianlong spoke highly of this event."Art is often easily detached from the masses, but not flowers, which are closely related to people's lives."Among Mr. Chen'sartworks, flowers are well-deserved protagonists. His "MountainFlowersand Weeds" are Chinese and Western, borrowing Western painting expression techniques but trying to free himself from Western-style symbolic thinking and injecting humanistic elements to give the paintings a personalized national interest and mood. Whether it is flowers that have left the earth or been cut or flowers that are half-wilted or withered, we do not think they have passed but regard them as the same as the flowers growing on the green earth, dancing, shouting, joking, stating, pining, and silent. The floral arrangements on display are created from the perspective of color, form, emotion, attitude, and mood. They are made by borrowing different forms of flowers and plants. This is also a vivid interpretation of Mr. Chen's artistic thinking.
In addition, this event presents the teaching outcomes of the floral art course at Wenzhou-Kean University. All floral arrangements were original works by students who took the floral course at WKU and were directed by part-time teacher Tang Lihui. The floral art course is one of the art courses from the Chinese CurriculaCenter. It is an art experience and practice course that started in 2017; over 440 students took this popular course.
On the opening day, the museum also held two floral workshops, where guests from inside and outside the university joined in to experience the beauty of flowers and plants at the beginning of summer.
The floral artworks will be displayed from May 18 to May 25, during which guided tours will be conducted occasionally. Visitors can enter the Chen Tianlong Art Museum to pick up ballots and vote for the creations they appreciate and like.
Museum opening hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday, extended to 6:00 p.m. every Wednesday, admission closes 30 minutes earlier. Opening hours changing for the holidays will be announced separately.
