In this golden autumn season, we are delighted to welcome a feast for the eyes and soul—the solo oil painting exhibition of Ms. Zeng Chunling. An artist from Wenzhou, Zhejiang, she presents us with a unique and captivating art exhibition, showcasing her distinct artistic vision and profound expertise.
Ms. Zeng has held a deep passion for art since childhood, with a broad range of pursuits spanning calligraphy, painting, piano, vocal music, and drama. She has explored every corner of the arts. Under the guidance of Mr. Pu Luemin, she continuously explores and innovates, blending imitation and creation, traditional Chinese painting and Western art, as well as traditional and modern elements, to form her unique oil painting style.
Ms. Zeng's works, with their bold colors and free forms, express strong subjectivity and recreate the beauty of intensity, exuberance, and depth. Her paintings are not just depictions of natural landscapes but also harmoniously integrated with music, full of poetry and creativity, possessing strong visual impact.
Starting from September 10, Wenzhou-Kean University will showcase more than 50 of Ms. Zeng Chunling's oil paintings. These works not only reflect her deep understanding of the beauty of nature but also vividly express her inner emotions. With the delicate vision of a woman and passionate brushstrokes, she celebrates the harmony and beauty of flowers, landscapes, and still life. Whether in precise form or the use of color, her work reveals her deep understanding and practice of the artistic concept of "learning from nature outside, finding the source within."
Therefore, we cordially invite all teachers and students of Wenzhou-Kean University to appreciate the charm of Ms. Zeng Chunling's artwork with us, immerse ourselves in this pure aesthetic realm, and experience a touch to the soul and a feast for the eyes.
Artist's statement：
Strolling Amid Beauty
Each flower reflects beauty, and each painting holds a world.
Since childhood, I have been closely connected with art, and it continues to accompany me today. As a literary and artistic officer at Wenzhou Cultural Center, my work has always revolved around the pure beauty of art—music, dance, piano, drama, recitation… these have all become integral parts of my work and life, enriching my heart with joy. Yet, I have always felt that I was still searching for another form of expression that suited me better.
Two years ago, I began experimenting with oil painting to express my inner emotions and understanding of the world. I wanted each image to be as simple as possible, like poetry and music, becoming a form of spiritual chanting.
With my paintbrush, I capture the moments that touch my heart—the blooming and fading of flowers, the shifting clouds, the phases of the moon… When I face each of my works, I feel genuine and sincere. My brushstrokes are delicate and warm. I believe that each of my paintings should not exist in isolation; they should be connected to the world, to our past and future, to our emotions and destinies. Whenever I immerse myself in the world of painting, I feel a profound sense of happiness.
Dear friends, as you open this art book, I know that you are encountering my works and resonating deeply with them. I am filled with gratitude because the true value of painting lies in the moment it is gazed upon. I hope and believe that you will imbue the works with new meanings based on your experiences, understanding, and thoughts. Together, let us experience the call of beauty through oil painting and enter a world of stillness, depth, purity, richness, and inclusivity.
I love the art of painting, and I hope you do too. For art, in its own way, affirms the beautiful qualities that humans should possess—hope, faith, love, and kindness… My mission and pursuit are to evoke the call of beauty in everyone who appreciates my oil paintings, softening their hearts.
I am grateful to my teacher, Zhu Lemin, who led me into the world of painting and tirelessly guided me. I also appreciate Wenzhou-Kean University for giving me the opportunity to share my oil paintings with the teachers and students.
