"Sophie's World" is a magical book that masterfully weaves the history of Western philosophy into a captivating story. It follows 14-year-old Sophie, who begins her journey into philosophy after receiving two mysterious letters asking, “Who are you?” and “Where does the world come from?” Guided by her mentor Alberto, she starts with ancient Greek philosophy and travels through various philosophical eras, reflecting on the nature of life and the universe. Author Jostein Gaarder uses clear and accessible language to make abstract philosophical concepts vivid and engaging. Reading this book, you'll not only enjoy an enchanting story but also effortlessly embark on a philosophical journey, seeing the world and yourself with fresh eyes.

Humanities · Journey of Growth

The Master and Margarita is Bulgakov’s absurdist masterpiece. The devil Woland arrives in Moscow with his bizarre entourage, using pranks and chaos to tear through the fabric of societal hypocrisy. Amid this surreal backdrop, the love between the down-and-out “Master” and his beloved Margarita grows resiliently between reality and fantasy. Scenes like a gun-wielding cat and a theater descending into madness are not mere spectacles. They probe the depths of human nature. Margarita’s pact with the devil to save the Master elevates their love beyond the mundane. Through absurdity, the novel reveals deeper truths, a powerful reflection on faith, the soul, and the courage to hold on. It is both haunting and profoundly thought-provoking.

Time · Marks of Civilization

The Hexi Corridor is more than a geographical account; it is a flowing epic of civilization. From the solitary figure of Zhang Qian on his diplomatic mission to the flying apsaras in the Dunhuang murals, from the echoes of camel bells along the Silk Road to the campfires of frontier soldiers, this corridor weaves a millennium-long dialogue between the Central Plains and the Western Regions. Using mountains and rivers as its paper and historical events as its ink, it shows us that this place is not merely a pass and desert, but a crossroads of cultural fusion, where camel caravans brought not only silk but also faith and new knowledge. Opening this book is like embarking on a long journey, feeling the warmth of history beneath your fingertips.

Science · Technology Lab

Lab Girl is a memoir that brings warmth to science. Biologist Hope Jahren doesn’t just present dry theories; she opens up the everyday life of the lab, from moss growing in petri dishes, to the frustration of failed experiments, to the decades-long partnership with her research collaborator. She shows us that science is never just cold data. Moss’s life cycle holds patience, and repeated experiments embody a philosophy of perseverance. When research and personal growth intertwine, even the microscopic world resonates with meaning. This is not only a story about science but also an answer to how passion takes root and grows.
