Wenzhou-Kean University Library hosts “The Adventure of Love” exhibition with Du Qiurui,who was born in the 1990s

Recently, an exhibition titled “The Adventure of Love” opened at the Fangjiong Art Space of Wenzhou-Kean University, drawing many art enthusiasts to visit. Organized by the Wenzhou-Kean University Library and hosted by the Wenzhou-Kean University Student Ambassadors team, the exhibition showcases the artistic creations of Du Qiurui, a young Chinese artist born in the 1990s. Through a series of inspiring and emotive artworks, it invites viewers to deeply explore the beauty and essence of life. The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by artist Du Qiurui, independent curator Zhang Ruibo, academic host Ni Anqi, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, Director of the Library Dr. Xie Zhiwu, Assistant Dean of Students Dr. Zhu Haina, and Director, Office of Admissions, Career and Alumni Ms. Jin Chun.

This exhibition is filled with highlights, including the “Adventures of Auntie Wang” series, which integrates northern Chinese folklore and beautifully showcases the warmth of human nature. The “Miss Flower” series examines the essence and value assigned to objects by juxtaposing plastic flowers with real ones, uncovering the innocent desire for love. This not only highlights the charm of art but also encourages the audience to gain a deeper understanding of life, love, and society. The “Romantic Soap Opera” series is the artist's latest creation, inviting the public to explore its themes.

In the opening speech, Dr. Xie Zhiwu stated, "Wenzhou-Kean University Library has always been dedicated to being a temple of knowledge, a cultural hub, and a home for the arts. The university aims to enrich the spiritual lives of teachers and students by organizing various cultural activities that inspire a pursuit of beauty and a love for life." This exhibition promotes respect for multiculturalism, which aligns with Wenzhou-Kean University's philosophy of liberal arts education.

Artist Du Qiurui expressed his hope that the audience will experience a sense of interpersonal resonance and reflect on the contemporary nature of love through a light-hearted, humorous, and even absurd visual language. He envisions this exhibition at Wenzhou-Kean University as more than just a display of artworks; it is intended to be a shared exploration of love, identity, and emotional expression. This exhibition also represents a unique collaboration between him and the students of Wenzhou-Kean University, whose enthusiasm and creativity enhance the interactivity and openness of the exhibit.

Independent curator Zhang Ruibo shared his thoughts on the exhibition "The Adventure of Love." He expressed, “I hope this exhibition can offer the teachers and students of Wenzhou-Kean University, as well as the public in Wenzhou, an opportunity to engage closely with the artworks. Additionally, I aim for this exhibition to encourage more members of the public and art enthusiasts to visit the campus, helping to break down the barriers between campus life and the surrounding community.”

Pu Ruohan, a freshman of communication major at Wenzhou-Kean University, is the initiator of this exhibition. She shared, “During my senior year of high school, I visited Mr. Du Qiurui's solo exhibition in Ningbo for the first time. I was particularly moved by the piece 'Subway to Spring,' which alleviated my hesitation and anxiety at that time. This experience sparked the idea for planning an art exhibition.” After entering Wenzhou-Kean University, Pu Ruohan joined the Student Ambassadors organization. With the support of her team and Wenzhou-Kean University Library, she successfully established an art exhibition project team. The exhibition ultimately came to fruition after overcoming several challenges. Pu Ruohan hopes that “The Adventure of Love” will convey themes of love and the pure creativity of artists. She aims for the audience at Wenzhou-Kean University and the public to experience and reflect on the concept of “love” and to appreciate the meaning behind the artworks.

During the opening ceremony, artist Du Qiurui and curator Zhang Ruibo provided a personal tour of the exhibition for the audience. Du Qiurui also engaged with the attendees, creating artworks collaboratively. This exhibition serves not only as a visual feast but also as a spiritual experience. Mr. Du Qiurui's works resonate deeply with the audience, showcasing his unique artistic language and profound emotional expression. We hope that in the future, his creations will continue to stand out in the art world, inspiring more people to explore the beauty of life and its true meaning.
