2024 Freshmen Reading Activity Came to a Successful End (List of Winners Attached)
Summer heat subsides and autumn is approaching. The Set Sail in the Sea of Books, Enjoy Reading on a New Journey series of activities, carefully planned and successfully organized by the library, has come to a successful end. Over the past month, the event has infused Wenzhou-Kean University's campus with a refreshing and vibrant spirit of reading, allowing us to witness the power of knowledge and experience the charm of reading.
This activity began with the booklist passionately recommended by Mr. Wang Beijiao, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wenzhou-Kean University, attracting the participation of many reading enthusiasts among WKUers. In the reading reflection sharing activity, we witnessed deep intellectual exchanges. In the book recommendation activities, we saw treasure books beloved by WUKers. In the wish-sharing area, WKUers shared warm blessings for themselves and others. Everyone actively responded to Secretary Wang's call to promote reading in their own unique ways.

朱光潜先生的《谈美》宛如一盏明灯，照亮了我对美的认知之路。在阅读的过程中，我仿佛置身于一个充满智慧和思考的美学殿堂，不断地受到启发和触动。
翻开书页，仿佛踏入了一个梦幻的美学花园，每一行文字都是一朵绽放的智慧之花，散发着迷人的芬芳。朱先生以他细腻而深邃的笔触，引领我穿越了美的重重迷雾。
书中，朱光潜先生以深入浅出的方式，将复杂的美学理论娓娓道来。他强调了“美感经验”的重要性，让我明白了美并非是孤立存在的客观事物，而是需要我们用心灵去感受和领悟。我们常常在忙碌的生活中忽略了身边的美好，而《谈美》提醒我要停下脚步，用心去观察一朵花的绽放、一片云的飘动，去倾听鸟儿的歌声、溪流的潺潺。只有当我们真正投入到这种感受中，才能领略到生活中的美。
在这趟美的旅程中，我领悟到美并非是高不可攀的抽象概念，而是隐匿于生活细微之处的灵动瞬间。就像清晨透过树叶缝隙洒下的阳光，斑驳而温暖；又如雨后荷叶上滚动的水珠，晶莹且剔透。美，是需要我们用一颗纯净而敏锐的心去捕捉的。
“距离产生美”，朱先生的这一观点如同一把神奇的钥匙，开启了我对美的全新理解之门。他指出，适当的距离可以让我们摆脱实用的眼光，以纯粹的审美心态去欣赏事物。这使我意识到，在对待生活中的人和事时，有时保持一定的距离和超脱的态度，能够让我们看到更多的美好。过于功利和实用的眼光，往往会遮蔽我们发现美的能力。当我们与生活保持适度的距离，不再被琐碎的功利所束缚，便能以一种超脱的姿态去欣赏世间万物。那远方的山峦，在距离的映衬下，多了几分神秘与诗意；那古老的建筑，在岁月的长河中，沉淀出厚重的韵味。
此外，朱光潜先生对于艺术与人生的关系的论述也令我印象深刻。他认为艺术是人生的一种表现形式，艺术来源于生活，又高于生活。通过艺术，我们可以更好地表达内心的情感和对世界的理解。这让我懂得了要善于从生活中汲取艺术的灵感，用艺术的眼光去丰富和充实自己的人生。艺术与人生的交融，更是让我深受触动。艺术，原来是我们内心世界的镜子，它映照出我们的喜怒哀乐，也折射出生活的五彩斑斓。一幅画、一首诗、一段旋律，都是我们对生活最深情的告白。透过艺术，我们能够超越现实的藩篱，触摸到灵魂深处的渴望。
《谈美》不仅仅是一本书，它更像是一位智者的低语，在我耳边轻轻诉说着美的真谛。它让我明白，美是生活的调味剂，让平淡的日子变得有滋有味；美是心灵的避风港，在喧嚣的世界中为我们提供一片宁静的栖息之地。 在未来的日子里，我愿带着从《谈美》中汲取的智慧之光，用一双善于发现美的眼睛，去探寻生活中的每一处惊喜，让美的旋律在我的人生中奏响永恒的乐章。

"Sternstunden der Menschheit: Vierzehn historische Miniaturen", an enchanting title gracefully weaves together the luminous epochs that have indelibly etched themselves onto the panoramic tapestry of human history. Stefan Zweig, hailed as a preeminent biographer of his era, utilizes his keen insight and profound understanding to reveal the pivotal turning points that have molded the world's course.
As I conclude my sojourn through its pages, my soul reverberates with a profound sense of reverence, evoking images of Vasco Núñez de Balboa's steadfast gaze upon the boundless Pacific, Mehmed II triumphantly entering the hallowed Hagia Sophia through the Imperial Gate, and Marshal Grouchy's relentless battles, each a valiant effort to redeem a momentary hesitation and uphold the glory of the French Republic.
Each 'star' in this tome represents a fleeting yet dazzling moment within the vast panorama of human history, be it a decisive instant that redirected the tide of events, a nocturnal spark of inspiration igniting timeless masterpieces, or a life-altering choice that forged a nation's fate. These stars, ephemeral in nature, nevertheless illuminate the celestial expanse of human memory, echoing the vastness and eternity akin to the ocean that captivated Balboa's gaze.
The stars of this book encompass visionary leaders who steered nations towards prosperity with unparalleled wisdom and bravery; luminous artists, like Tolstoy, who in their quest for truth and universal love, erected literary landmarks that endure; and humble souls like Cicero, who, at critical junctures, shone brightly with the radiance of humanity's noblest achievements, defending the republic and sacrificing for justice. Their stories are epic poems, inspiring future generations.
As aspiring scholars embarking on our academic pursuits, we may not scale the heights of achievements chronicled herein, yet we comprehend that every diligent endeavor contributes to the edifice of greatness. We are the architects of our destinies, meticulously shaping our paths and etching significant chapters in our lives' narratives."
Sternstunden der Menschheit" is not merely a profound meditation on the past; it is a beacon of hope for the present, teaching us that, whether we are historical giants or humble individuals, armed with faith, hope, and a love for life, we can ascend to the pinnacles of our potential, seeking and embracing our boundless horizons. This is our era, and we, the brightest stars, possess the power to illuminate our skies with unparalleled brilliance.
Lin Shunli——The Old Man and The Sea
《老人与海》是美国作家海明威的经典之作，作者通过这部小说表达了几个核心主题：人的坚持、孤独与希望，生命的尊严，以及人与自然的平衡。《老人与海》是海明威晚年的杰作，汇聚了他创作的精髓，也是他最为人熟知的小说之一。在这部作品中，海明威不仅描写了一个老渔夫与鲨鱼搏斗的故事，还深入探讨了生命的意义。
三年前，我曾略读过这本小说，那个时候，它传递给我的，是一个不服老、不屈服于命运、勇敢抗争的老渔夫形象。三年后的今天，当我再次阅读这本书时，才发现其中更多的隐喻。通过思考故事情节，结合对海明威个人经历的了解，我有了许多新的感悟。比如，书中的老人似乎就是海明威本人的象征。
从海明威的个人经历来看，1961年7月，他在经历灵感枯竭和健康问题的折磨时，写下了这本书，寄托了自己对生命的渴望和对继续生活的希望。书中的老人捕获了一条大马林鱼，但最终在鲨鱼的袭击下，只剩下鱼骨。这一结局似乎映射了海明威人生中的悲剧色彩。尽管他获得了普利策奖和诺贝尔文学奖等诸多荣誉，他却在这些光环背后感到空虚与孤独。就像老人的鱼骨一样，海明威的辉煌也无法掩盖他内心的苦涩。

老人的行动让我意识到，尝试是改变的第一步。成功可能意味着满载而归，而失败也可以成为宝贵的记忆。即使最终一无所获，老人的坚持与奋斗仍然让人感动。他手握捕鱼线、脚顶船边的画面，展现了他对目标的坚定执着。
小男孩的鼓励和信任是老人继续奋斗的动力。尽管老人独自漂泊在辽阔的大海上，但他时刻想着小男孩的关心与他们曾经的合作。这种精神让我联想起历史上的英雄人物，比如长征中的红军战士们，他们在极其艰苦的条件下，依然坚持不懈，靠着坚定的信念和彼此的鼓励，最终克服了种种困难，完成了伟大的长征。
《老人与海》告诉我们，即使面对困境，也要坚持追逐自己的梦想。像老人一样，无论结果如何，追梦的过程本身就是一种成功。在未来的道路上，我希望这种精神能激励更多人勇敢前行。
Cheng Yitong——The Miracles of the Namiya General Store
《解忧杂货店》是东野圭吾的一部充满人情味与温暖的小说，仿佛一扇打开心灵的窗户，让读者得以窥见不同人生命运的交织和彼此间那份细腻的关怀。在这个错综复杂的世界里，解忧杂货店如同一座灯塔，照亮了那些在困惑与孤独中摸索前行的灵魂。
书中的每一个故事都是一段微妙的心灵旅程。在那个神秘的杂货店里，来自不同背景的人们，通过那封封信件传递着自己的忧伤与迷茫。阅读他们的故事，就像走进一次心灵的博物馆，展览着人类共同的情感：失落、孤独、希望与勇气。每一位开门而入的人，都是为了找到自己内心的某种解答，而杂货店所提供的，不仅是实际问题的解决，更是一种心灵的慰藉。
作者以简练而优美的笔触，将平凡的生活与非凡的情感交织在一起。每一个人物，无论是少年、长者，还是身处逆境的奋斗者，都在时间的漩涡中，显得如此真实而饱满。他们的烦恼与思索，如同月光下的涟漪，悄然回荡在人们的心田。正因如此，读者在翻阅之际，仿佛也感受到了那些潜藏在字里行间的柔情与温暖。
东野圭吾通过这部作品，让我再一次意识到人与人之间的紧密联系。在这时代的洪流中，我们每个人都如同一叶孤舟，时常需要他人的引导。解忧杂货店不仅是一个物理空间，更是每个社会角色所寄托的希望与信任。在那些愁苦与烦恼的背后，藏着的是人性中最光辉的一面。这种情感的传递，正是人与人之间的短暂交集，却能在心灵深处激起悠远的共鸣。
最终，这部作品教会我，在生活的旅途中，无论前方的道路多么崎岖，我们都要保持对生活的热爱与期待。就如同解忧杂货店的存在，给予我们希望与勇气，去面对每一个清晨的曙光。因此，我想在今后的日子里，努力成为那个愿意倾听与理解他人的人，让自己的生命也散发出那份温暖和光亮。生活虽短，但爱的光芒将永恒流淌。
