The Plan of Going Home Lecture | The Drifted and The Sedimented

November 21, 2025 | Upcoming Events

Does paper possess intelligence?

Can the wetness of mountain be measured?

How to design a ritual?

What is the logic of “Pan-cai” for Wenzhou?

As the artist selected for Hong Museum's Zougui Project residency program, Jiacheng Chen will organize his lecture The Drifted and the Sedimented around the aforementioned four questions, in which he will review past art/design projects and share his discoveries and reflections in Wenzhou.

In Jiacheng’s view, the geological phenomena of drift-sedimentation holds broader significance in the creative process, and this continuous process may open up unique pathways for thinking. Key contents to be addressed in this lecture include: paper-making, the phenomenon of wetness in urban residual spaces, the instrumental rationality of drafting techniques, traditional rituals in rural area, ecological design, and the philosophy of “rhizome”.
