Immersive Reading Activity | Whispers of Unfinished Emotions
Some emotions linger at the edges of a story, refusing to reach their final act.
In the novels we have read, these emotions take many forms: the lament "we can never go back" in Half a Lifelong Romance; Fugui repeatedly losing his loved ones in To Live, left with nothing but an old ox; the ever-elusive green light in The Great Gatsby. These unfinished endings, like tiny yet persistent thorns, lie buried deep in memory, and even the slightest brush against them can bring a quiet ache.
In our daily lives, we often suppress our emotions, brushing them aside with a hurried "It's okay," and seldom take the time to truly reflect on the unspoken regrets we carry. This May, coinciding with National Student Mental Health Awareness Month, WKU Library invites you to an immersive reading and rewriting experience centered on the theme of "unfinished emotions." Here, you can explore new possibilities for stories left incomplete and discover fresh ways to express the moments we revisit time and again.

In each of our hearts, there may be one or two unresolved "unfinished emotions." It could be a farewell left unspoken, or a story we have read to the end yet cannot let go of. While regrets cannot be rewound, we can choose to see them anew in another way.
The rewriting that takes place between the pages is not intended to change the story’s original ending. Rather, through reading and writing, we can practice reinterpreting those lingering emotions, giving a gentle voice to moments that can never be relived.
As Gone with the Wind reminds us, "Tomorrow is another day." This May, visit WKU Library for an immersive reading experience and a courageous act of rewriting. Let the story continue unfolding, and discover those answers that have yet to be named within it.
